Midnight Symposium with Lesley Hazelton, celebrated author of After the Prophet, the epic tale of Shia-Sunni split in Islam. November 11th 8pm.
Our first Symposium was a riotous success, with sold-out attendance, and much bawdy inquiry into the F-word with Jesse Sheidlower. Expect a podcast of the evening soon. We continue the series with acclaimed journalist, novelist, and all around grand dame of letters Lesley Hazelton.
The Midnight Symposium concept is simple: we will continue to host some of the leading intellectuals, artists, and writers of our time for a casual course on a subject of their choosing. On Nov. 11thth 40 guests will take the elevator to the 7th floor Penthouse of the Sorrento, glasses will be filled, bellies will be sated and a late night symposium will begin.
Symposium Number Two: "The Ugly American: arrogance, ignorance, or innocence abroad -- or are they all related?" with Lesley Hazelton. November 11th 2009.
*Upon confirmation of their reservation guests will receive a pdf of required reading. In a Symposium dialogue is encouraged.
